Biography
Antonios KatanosAntonios Katanos was born in Istanbul in 1952.He was awarded his B.A degree in Anthropology and History of Art from S.U.N.Y.at New Paltz,New York.He combines his passion for photography with archaeology.Specializes in archaeological, architectural and nature photography.Recently he resides in Greece.Cooperates with publishing houses and magazines.Has published articles with photos such as:Dragon houses(Mysterious megalithic structures of Evoia), the technological achievements of Minyans(draining the lake Copais in prehistoric times),the Cyclopean fortifications,Mycenaean pyramid,bridges and tombs,Megalithic monuments,ceremonial caves and mountaintop sanctuaries,ancient metallurgical works in Lavreotiki,Kouroi and menhir of Naxos,classical fortifications of Attica, Temples,sanctuaries,oracle sites and theaters from the Hellenistic and Roman period. Medieval fortifications from the Byzantine,Frankish, Venetian and Turkish dominion.He has contributed with his pictures to the album "Zoom on Greece" for Special Olympics.His photos were published in the archaeological guide of 'Olympia'.For the book "Oracle sites of Greece" has documented and photographed over 30 sites.He has established an extensive archive over 30.000 slides and B/W infrared photos.In addition has trekked to Muktinath -a Hindu-Budhist pilgrimage site located in Annapourna massif, Himalaya.In Yucatan explored the Mayan pyramids,lived for a while in Morrocco,India and Thailand observing how different religions and cultures interacted.Currently I am available for photographic expeditions.Willing to provide archaeological jpg images that can be used as on-line presentetion,report,brochure,mail-out,web sites,and illustration for articles,books.JPEG uncompressed high resolution image files are available on a rights managed or royalty free basis,supplied by e-mail download.If you are interested in exclusive licensing rights that can be arranged.Thank you for taking time to visit my site.e-mail:photokatanos@yahoo.gr and fotokatanos@hotmail.com
