From a "pride," a flock, a herd, a group of ostriches - I had two plywood panels and they had interesting knot holes, like the panel I used to paint the owls (not here) and the dogs. Right around that time I came across a photo of several young ostriches and I sketched several of them together to fit the panels. Each eye was once a knot hole in the plywood.
