After I painted the pez-head Drugstore Cowboys, I wanted to paint one with more proportional heads - more like the Gordon Parks photo. I didn't try to have the thing be an exact copy, but to borrow his composition and his concept. I traded this painting for six oil changes at my favorite garage.
