 I'm an ex Londoner, living and working on beautiful Waiheke Island in New Zealand (population around 7000, slight culture shock....) I make rugs/wallhangings from recycled clothing and fabric (preferably Armani but nobody's donated any yet....) selling from my studio as well as other stores & the Waiheke art gallery - it's great how many intrepid travellers manage to find this lovely island.....all the wallhangings are unique 'one-offs', although I'm always happy to make up a design more than once. Colours and fabrics will vary, of course.
It was a big lifestyle change from keyboard hotshot to rag rug artist but I encourage anyone who'll listen to follow their passions(in true Scorpio soapbox style, I probably get r-e-a-l-l-y boring about it...) but I AM passionate about everyone finding at least one thing that inspires them and following their heart and doing it because they love it.... fun is so contagious...
I also give the occasional aromatherapy massage and work in my organic garden (join Soil & Health in promoting an Organic NZ by 2020) - growing my own food, herbs & flowers, which is a similar theme to the rugs in a way - both involve creating something new out of nothing much ... and I'm so grateful that I'm able to live by the sea in this magical environment and play at both..... :-}
