 I'm an ex Londoner, living and working on beautiful Waiheke Island in New Zealand (population around 7000, big difference....) I make rugs/wallhangings from recycled clothing and materials, selling from my studio as well as other stores & the Waheke art gallery - it's great how many intrepid travellers manage to find me.....
It was a big lifestyle change from keyboard hotshot to rag rug artist but I encourage anyone who'll listen to follow their passions(in true Scorpio soapbox style, I probably get r-e-a-l-l-y boring about it...) but I AM passionate about everyone finding at least one thing that inspires them and following their heart and doing it because they love it.... fun is so contagious...
I'm also addicted to organic gardening, growing my own food, herbs & flowers, which is a similar theme to the rugs in a way - both involve creating something new out of nothing much ... and I'm so grateful that I'm able to live by the sea in this magical environment and play at both..... :-}
PS A special HI to all those loggers-on from Tempe, Arizona (according to the web stats) I guess you must be at a college/uni or something like it?? Email me, I'd love to know what you all do;-} And all the visitors from Moscow, Paris and India - wow, the Internet puts tiny Waiheke Island and rag rugs on the map, LOL!
