The poppy, the flower which is almost always associated with remembrance; automatically linked with sacrifice, and war. A flower which now grows on lapels and not in the earth. But in this piece the poppy is caught up in a conflict of it's own. Whether it be peaceful or not we can't tell. Who can truly know if these petals are bleeding or scattering seeds. But the sheer energy this piece possesses brings home the lust nature truly has for life. To originally portray an iconic image is difficult, but to bring it alive is superb. This series of paintings are superb.
