Waiting for Monet Russ McKinney
This piece is one of several I've done that were inspired by the wonderful world of plants at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pa.
The flowers weren't open yet. They seemed to be waiting for...Monet, who also loved water lillies. Hence the title.
The piece pictured is in a private collection in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C. The larger version available on commission would take a month to complete. Each version of a design is unique, and I usually discuss variations in the patina and spot colors with patrons who commission coppers.
