Change (All Encompassing) as Landsca
Ryan's Gallery
Oil on Canvas Board
November 2006
This is a temple graveyard - near dusk, in fall. The clouds were gathering for most of the day, but it didn’t rain until after nightfall - Thankfully!
You can see that all the leaves on the trees and bushes are turning colors. If you follow the lane on the left around the bend, up or down the mountain, you would see this is the same everywhere.
The graveyard itself is a fairly obvious reminder of change. The wooden fence surrounding it - is now well weathered from time. The last few leaves cling to the tree in the right foreground, but several are in the process of falling.
Even the mountains, which you might expect to remain firm forever, …moment to moment / day to day in many subtle and less subtle ways, are not the same.
There is some texture and gloss evident in the paint. I buy the most light resistant/ fade resistant paints, so its quality will last.
All of my pictures are: titled, signed, and dated on the back, with my smaller – less imposing “signature-mark” on the front. I make a habit of sending along any notes/ observations from the time each piece was completed to accompany them.
This will ship flat, insured for full value, from the Nagano region of Japan.
All you need to do is fit this in a frame of your choosing, and you can hang it up!
