Fall Pond at Night - Suzaka
Ryan's Gallery
Oil on Unstretched Canvas
There was this very cold – rain and hailing morning, when I decided to try going to the local hotspring. (There was no heater, and is no bath at my house.) By the time I got out of the hot-spring, the hail had ceased, and there were little pockets of blue sky visible through the clouds. It was stil too overcast to try and paint anything that day, but I thought I would take a different way home, …which took me all the rest of the daylight hours, but I found this very nice spot while wandering around that day.
I went back here as soon as I could - the following weekend, and painted most of this before it got dark. The sky I re-did when it was already fairly dark, and I could hardly see color any longer (but it came out well, all the same). I touched up a few areas at my house later that night, and the next.
There are signs along the approach to this path, that warn hikers to be wary of the bears that are sometimes seen there. I didn`t see any bears, but it did make me slightly nervous whenever I heard noises coming from the trees all around me.

There is a fair amount of texture and gloss evident in the paint. I buy the most light resistant/ fade resistant paints, so its quality should last for a loooong time. (I would still try to avoid hanging any painting in direct sunlight.)
All of my pictures are signed and dated on the back, with a small identifying “signature-mark” on the front. I make a habit of sending along any notes/ observations from the time each piece was completed to accompany each piece.
This will ship flat, insured for full value, from the Nagano region of Japan.
All you need to do is fit this in a frame of your choosing, and you can hang it up!
