This one-of-a-kind Roman Shade was commissioned for a house remodel project. It is made with 12 different blue fabrics and 6 browns.
The "quilt" is not hand quilted as my other pieces are, but machine quilted where the staves are for raising and lowering the shade. The shade has no batting, just a piece of unbleached muslin on the back side. It is signed and dated by the artist. The shade is 86 3/4" x 95" and is in 2 seperate panels so that only one can be open at a time or both.
The shade covers a pair of french doors that lead out to a large deck. The shade panels are mounted on a piece of 2x4 that is covered in muslin and mounted at the top of the wall. There are 2 cleats on either side of the door that the pulls are wound around to secure the shades in the up position.
There were also 2 pairs of matching pull back curtains 33"x67" made for 2 other windows in this master bedroom suite.
Completed in 1999 after 6 months of construction. Individual pieces used in the shade ranged in sizes of 1/2" to 2" wide pieces.
