	click images below for alternate view     Dog Bone Quilt 36"x36" Sisters In Stitches This quilt is a commissioned piece for a family who are dog lovers. They owned a Westie and a Miniature Collie at the time this was commissioned. This quilt is the precursor to the Family Name quilts that I now design (see Custom Family Name quilt #1 and #5 in Wallhanging Gallery). Along with their 4 children, each family members name was hand quilted into a hand appliqued dog bone on a hunter green background. 4 silhouettes of a Westie were hand appliqued onto hunter green blocks. Hand Echo quilting was done around each dog silhouette and bone 1/8 of an inch apart in each block. This gives the piece a very textured appearance. The surrounding brown sand border has hand quilted dog paws and baby bare feet. The backing is traditional unbleached muslin. It is signed and dated by the artist. This quilt is displayed in their entry way of their home on a large wall with a custom made display rack. Copyright: 2000 Jean M.
