This commissioned Family Name Wall Hanging is 43"x43. It was designed around specific information provided by the client concerning the family it was intended for. All Custom Family Name Wall Hangings are designed in this way.
This wall hanging was commissioned for a family that just had their 5th child. A leaf was hand quilted in the plain squares and each family member's name and birth date were hand quilted inside the leaf.
The mother is a science teacher so a fabric with a teacher holding a beaker was used for her block. The father is a design engineer so a fabric showing a man working furiously at his computer was used for his block. Mallard duck fabric was also used as one of the focus blocks as the boys' and their father are hunters.
The 4 oldest children are boys and heavily involved in multiple sports. Football, basketball, baseball and golf fabrics were selected to represent each of them.
The youngest child, just born in March of 2007 is a girl so baby duck fabric that is quilted with shamrocks is her fabric. There is space left for 1 more child if need be or the family may opt to have something else hand quilted into the last remaining leaf.
The brown inside border is hand quilted with footprints and with paw prints. The outside binding is also the mallard duck fabric.
The family initial, "M", in the center is made with black fabric and was hand appliqued to the background fabric. The background fabric behind the initial is a wood print and represents a basketball court. The father has been heavily involved in coaching basketball for the last 10 years and the boys have all played since 3rd grade.

Manufacturing time is 3-5 weeks depending on order backlog. The average manufacturing time is 4 weeks.
All wall hangings come with washing and care instuctions as well as information on how to hang the quilt invisibily. The back of the quilt is traditional, unbleached muslin. Each quilt is signed and dated by the artist. Crafted in a smoke-free and animal-free environment.
There are hanging sleeves ready to accept any type of wood dowl, 2-3" wood slat or curtain rod.
