Hummingbirds in Flowers
Sisters In Stitches
This is the second quilt in a series of quilts utilizing a hand cross stitched panel as the center medallion.
The quilt is hand quilted artist, by hand. The cross stitching has also been done by hand by an expert needleworker.
The hand quilting was done to complement the hummingbirds in the cross stitched center panel. A wonderful floral patterned fabric as well as a muted Oriental print is incorporated around the hummingbirds giving the illusion that they are suspended in an Oriental flower garden.
The quilting stitches are heirloom-quality and greatly enhance the overall design of the piece. This is finely detailed hand quilting that is only achieved after years of practice. The hand quilting of the hummingbird silhouettes in the black border gives this piece its finishing touch.
This is truly a piece of art that will grace your walls for years to come. The back of the wall hanging is covered traditionally, with unbleached muslin and is signed and dated by the quilter.
Hanging sleeves are already sewed on the back for ease of display. All fabrics in the wall hanging are 100% cotton. The batting used is also 100% cotton.
This piece was juried into "The Art of Craft" competition at the b.j. spoke gallery in Huntington, New York. It is one of 48 art works selected from over 300 entries. The media included in this exhibit ranges from clay, fiber, and glass to metal and wood. The wallhanging was on exhibit from August 22 thru September 17, 2006.
This piece is on exhibit at the Amery Medical Center in Amery, Wisconsin from March 18, 2009 through June of 2009.
