Fiesta Pinwheel (River Eddy #1) Sisters In Stitches
Here is a wonderful companion piece to Royal Pinwheels (River Eddy #2) wall hanging.Naming pieces can be difficult. I saw pinwheels that I used to play with as a child as I was making the quilt. Others who see the quilt on display tell me they see a River Eddy that makes potholes in the bedrock of the river.
This wall hanging is 33x33 inches and has the same fabrics as Royal Pinwheel but has a much different appearance. This is more relaxed feeling like when a canoe paddle makes an eddy as you are paddling down a quiet river.
The quilt is made of 100% cotton fabrics including the Bali fabric which is the purples and pinks. The Bali fabric was all one piece but due to the marbling, different colors came out when cut into the blades for the pinwheels.
The hand quilting in the border is reminiscent of Art Deco design. Each pinwheel has been hand quilted around each wheel to bring out the shape.
The wallhanging was all hand quilted and the binding was sewn by hand with expert workmanship. The backing is traditional unbleached muslin. It is signed and dated by the artist.
It is machine washable and dryable and complete care instructions are included along with directions for hanging the wallhanging "invisibly". Hanging sleeves have been hand sewn to the back for this purpose. Crafted in a smoke-free and animal-free environment.
This would be a wonderful focal point over a sofa or above a gas fireplace. A very abstract design option that has enough colors to change with your palette choices over the years. A great investment.
