Madonna and Child in the Rose Garden
The Ran Collection

In the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance era Mother and child are portrayed in the arbor of roses or in the garden, which has been forming an enclosed space. Since ancient times ROSE occupies an important place in Christian symbolism: red means the blood of the martyr, and the Virgin is also known as "a rose without thorns." The image of the garden is taken from "Song of Solomon" , where garden has become a symbol of virginity. Christian mysticism, and mysticism of other cultures its predecessors, all of them striking the same way in reverence roses, whether folk song, godly saga or medieval paintings, Mary, Mother of God, always sits in the rose garden.
In the Middle Ages, theologians believed that earthly paradise was not a flood washed away, but survived and it continues to exist.
Thus, the real earth's garden was considered to heavenly paradise. And in church and in secular garden center seats for plants, imbued with Christian symbolism. The first were roses and lilies, the flowers of Mary.
The work of Katrin Schwarz is replicated from the painting of studio Botticelli, and sanctified in Jerusalem, Israel, in the Church of Holy Sepulchre (the Church of Resurrection). Church of the Holy Sepulchre is one of the holiest places in the world for Christians, who come here for 2000 years to visit the place where Jesus of Nazareth died, was buried, and rose back. The certificate of the church can be found at the back of the wooden board.
