Fire Dragon

This is a Raku fired fragment mounted on black linen covered board and framed in a laquered red shiny frame. The design was etched in clay, fired, glazed and raku fired. The incidence of breakage and loss is high when raku firing, due to the thermal shock. This piece made it through the firing, only to crack when being mounted on the board. The crack serves to give it more of an "ancient artifact" type of look. The actual fragment measures approximately 16" X 7", is ir-regular in shape, and the framed piece measures 24" X 12". It is signed by the artist in the lower left part of the image.
