On the Beach (South Carolina)

12 x 16" oil painting on canvas panel, at Myrtle Beach State Park, South Carolina. I composed the scene to create a large expanse in a small picture plane. My two daughters are on the waters edge to give scale to the tonal banding created by the dry sand, wet sand, white waves, and ocean water, sky, and clouds. (Somewhat inspired by Edward Potthast.)
