 I was born on July, 27th, 1951 in the Far East of Russia in Khabarovsk-city.
My true name is Alexander Vasiliyevich Zuyenko.
« Magkha Zenza » is my creative pseudonym, - it is written only by latin letters. I can decipher it thus:
Mag - it is clear without translation
Kha - Khabarovsk
Zen - religious outlook (chan - in China, zen - in Japan)
Za - usual my signature on works till 2002.
I was born in family of the artist. My father Vasiliy Zuyenko has lived a long and difficult life (1919 - 2002),he was one of the leading artists-graphic of the Russian Far East.
From the middle 60th years the last century he was on a regular basis participated in known then exhibitions « The Soviet Russia », there was no graphic technics which he would not know. He was engaged and Illustrations to books, has mastered technics of an etching (including electric etching), Very much loved monotype, and toward the end the life has occupied in painting, but …
Has brought sight and last year he worked already almost completely gone blind.
Has died at me on hands of an insult on January, 4th, 2002.
After his death I also have taken pseudonym ZENZA (or Magkha ZENZA) - that surname Zuyenko belonged only to one artist - Vasiliy Zuyenko.
I drew since the childhood. But so it has turned out, that after school I have arrived to study in big known aviation institute in Kiev where studied 5,5 years. Then worked 4 years like the engineer at the airport, not ceasing, however, on the sly for itself to be engaged of graphic.
I assisted for the father to print circulations of etchings, adopted his experience. At last, the artist in me has overcome aircraft, and I have occupied … in design. It has begun with 1978 (to me there were 27 years).
I ended in 1982 art-graphic faculty of Far East state humanitarian university. From the middle 80th years I have started to work together with the father in his studio. We with him are very different artists, absolutely unlike. If he always was engaged in realistic creativity, me pulled to grotesque «re-expressionism» - so I name my style, my direction in art. Together we developed author's technics - a repeated press (high) on a paper, a cardboard, a canvas. A basis for a press is special the cut Finnish cardboard. It is printed by fragments, with repeated drawing a paint. My personal merit here is transition to oil paints instead of distemper (or gouache with glue).
I have started to participate in regional exhibitions, on a regular basis enough, but have then understood, that exhibitions should be at me only personal. The first such took place only in May, 2000 at theatre " TRIADA " in Khabarovsk. 35 works (from them 16 etchings). Next year I was exposed with two friends, (Ilya Likhanov - very good painter, ours « Far East Van Gogh » both the jeweller and graphic Valentin Samar) - in the main gallery of Khabarovsk named A. M. Fedotov (who was friend of my father) at the common exhibition of three artists under the name « Between the Past and Future »
There by me it has been exposed more than 70 works in the most various techniques
At this time my father was ill, to me became not up to exhibitions. Now I in them do not accept participation, I do not see sense. Besides now at me new hobby - computer graphic. Now at me one more easel is a screen of the monitor.
As to genres, me interesting, it`s almost everything, arts exciting the world. It both a landscape, and a still-life, sometimes portraits, sometimes «nude» with elements of grotesque.
Besides I still and the poet, write verses, I am going release some books in due course.
So I master also polygraphy gradually as I wish to finish completely books on a computer, with my illustrations and imposition. If to speak about "hobby", - that it,probably, mine hobby is for an astrology (from 1991 year). However, it is difficult for naming hobby, more likely it researches in the given area. For money I do not make horoscopes. Though could, certainly. But … the soul to it does not lay.
In the past to year I has buried mother. Half a year did not write verses after that. Now I come back to this occupation gradually.
