Biography

With the exception of a painting class in High School, I'm a self taught artist. I have always thought like an artist paying attention to light, shadow, shape, form, color, negative and positive space, but I didn't start painting until 2002 at the age of 49. My paintings and subject matter vary quite a bit depending on my inspiration. I paint the surreal, sometimes from my dreams or fantasies, or landscapes and foliage inspired by my surroundings. I enjoy portraits and the human form. Water is another inspiration which appears in most of my paintings. As a life long surfer I've always lived around water,I just love it. Water is moving, fluid, reflective,in its trans luminance. It can be every artists dream or nightmare.
Some of my paintings contain hidden secondary images,and things that are not what they may seem. sometimes I do this just to amuse myself and sometimes as the premise of the painting.
